What Pingo AI customers say

They sell AI language practice through speaking, feedback, and personalized lessons, but the 24 newest reviews expose serious trust problems around trials and recurring charges. The product complaints also center on inaccurate listening, premature correction, rigid lesson flow, and poor level matching. You can take the clearest opening by making billing transparent and proving accurate, user-controlled conversation in the first ad and first session.

The strongest pattern is billing distrust: reviewers describe unclear recurring terms, card-backed trials, missed reminders, unexpected charges, and difficult refunds. Product complaints cluster around speech recognition, interruptions, rigid lessons, and level mismatch, which undercuts their promise of real conversation. You can compete by making trial terms and cancellation explicit, then proving that practice remains accurate and controllable for beginners and advanced learners.

Free trial is a scam they will charge u!

If I could give this app zero stars, I would. So note careful with pressing the deceptive „7-day free trial“ in the subscription from their app. They will immediately charge your credit card! I wrote them and THEY pointed out they put in their terms and conditions that Apple Pay is responsible. Clearly THEY programmed the automatic charge into the free-trial subscription button. This is a San Francisco based company that also put in their terms and conditions a class action waiver. Showing their scamming will is by design! Do NOT download! Report them too to the FTC and the California attorney general. In the USA this is also unlawful.

HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE

HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE. They just like to take your money. I tried cancelling as soon as I got charged because I forgot to cancel during my free trial because the app was not for me - it was way too fast paced. The company Pingo is sending me to Link, and then Link is sending me back to Pingo. WHO HAS MY MONEY? I will never know. I am so unbelievably frustrated with such an awful customer service experience. Never again. Don't download this crappy app.

SCAM

SCAM! Did not email me to tell me they were about to bill me and billed me anyway. The app also sucks. Link AND Pingo both won't refund me.

Charged for a renewal I did not understand I had subscribed to

The app displayed the subscription as “1 Month” rather than clearly indicating a recurring monthly subscription. After the charge occurred, both Apple and Pingo AI refused to provide a solution.

I really want to like it, but I think it relies too heavily on AI. I took French and the first few lessons went well, I was able to dive back into French pretty fast.. By the 3rd or 4rh lessons the AI lost the plot, for one it was delivering the full lesson in french, it also started to over correct me ... making a distinction between We and Qui...and told me to say it more with an accent. Would've been nice to be more structured in parts, and less disruptive in terms of cutting me off.

It’s great that the first French lessons helped you get back into the language, and we’re sorry the later experience became frustrating. You can adjust your learning plan in Pingo, and please send these lesson and interruption details to support@pingo.ai so we can file them with the team and investigate. -The Pingo Team

would be nice if there was a free version limited access. I did the trial and canceled before it cost me anything. In the trial I noticed a few odd glitches of the sentence being read out then telling you to repeat in the language you're learning but it picks up it's own words before you say anything. Other times it would hear part of what you say but not let you get the full sentence out before correcting you. The app has potential sure just not for me with no free version.

Errors in the trial version make me think that the paid version wouldn't be any better. How do you feel this is allowable, Pingo? The errors are extremely glaring, where it states that you've "learned" a new word, and done this twice over but the only thing you learned is that the software said it, and if you've never learned the language before, wouldn't understand what it meant in the first place. Or, how to articulate it. These are within the first two, very short lessons, and it's disturbing

We understand how discouraging this is, especially for a new learner. You can adjust your learning plan in Pingo to start with more basic content. Please send these examples to support@pingo.ai so we can file them with the team and investigate. -The Pingo Team

there was no reminder to cancel the trial. I stopped using it and was busy. I relied on that notification. now I'm trying to get a refund. also. I didn't really enjoy the app as a beginner. might be fine for someone a little more advanced. I don't like that it could still listen when I got out because the app was still technically running in background.
